Facebook reverts to old terms of service, working on new version that “everybody can understand” — Well, that was pretty fast. Facebook has reverted to its prior terms of service — due to a backlash from some users, media outlets and privacy groups — while it works out a new version.

So if you are in the process of frantically reaching for that “delete facebook account”, no worry facebook was nice enough to clear up any confusion:

Are you deleting because you are concerned about Facebook’s Terms of Service? This was a mistake that we have now corrected. You own the information you put on Facebook and you control what happens to it. We are sorry for the confusion.

Well thank you facebook, maybe next time you’ll realize that your users aren’t going to let you screw with thier information. More then 38,000 users have joined a user group protesting the change.

But this doesn’t put the stop on the fact that Facebook can change its Terms of Service at any time. “We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change or delete portions of these terms at any time without further notice,” Facebook’s agreement says. “Your continued use of the Facebook service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.”
